European Styrene Contract Price Jumps EUR 279 per Tonne in October 2026

Leave a message

European styrene monomer contract prices increased sharply in October 2026, reflecting higher upstream feedstock costs and significant changes in petrochemical pricing.

According to industry reports, the October styrene contract price rose by EUR 279 per metric ton compared with September.

The increase pushed the reference contract price to approximately EUR 1,980 per metric ton, its highest level in more than four years.

Styrene is an important petrochemical intermediate used in the production of polystyrene, ABS, SAN and other polymer materials.

Its production relies primarily on benzene and ethylene, making styrene costs sensitive to changes in upstream petrochemical markets.

Higher styrene prices can increase feedstock costs for polystyrene manufacturers and influence pricing decisions for downstream products.

The substantial October price adjustment highlights the impact of upstream cost movements on European styrenics production.

With styrene serving as a critical raw material for multiple polymer industries, changes in its contract price remain important indicators for producers, distributors and international buyers.
