Styrene Fire Fighting Measures

Leave a message

Dangerous characteristics: Its vapor can form an explosive mixture with air. It is dangerous to cause combustion and explosion when it encounters open flames, high heat or oxidants. It can produce violent polymerization and release a lot of heat when it encounters acidic catalysts such as Lewis catalysts, Ziegler catalysts, sulfuric acid, ferric chloride, aluminum chloride, etc. Its vapor is heavier than air and can spread to a considerable distance at a lower level. It will catch fire and burn back when it encounters a fire source.
Harmful combustion products: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.
Fire extinguishing method: Move the container from the fire scene to an open area as much as possible. Spray water to keep the fire container cool until the fire is extinguished. Fire extinguishing agent: foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, sand and soil. It is ineffective to extinguish the fire with water. In case of a large fire, firefighters must operate in a protective shelter.
