Global chemical producer Oxea has implemented price increases for several oxo intermediates, including n-butanol, isobutanol and 2-ethylhexanol.
According to the company's announcement dated September 29, the adjustments became effective October 1, 2026, or as existing contracts allow.
In Europe, n-butanol and isobutanol prices increased by EUR 60 per metric ton, while 2-ethylhexanol prices increased by EUR 70 per metric ton.
For markets outside Europe and North America, the announced increases were USD 70 per metric ton for n-butanol and isobutanol, and USD 80 per metric ton for 2-ethylhexanol.
Oxea attributed the adjustments to sustained increases in raw material, energy and supply chain costs.
Oxo alcohols are important chemical intermediates used in coatings, adhesives, plasticizers and acrylic esters.
N-butanol is a key raw material for butyl acrylate, while 2-ethylhexanol is used in the production of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and plasticizers.
The price adjustments highlight continuing cost pressures across the oxo alcohol value chain, with potential implications for downstream chemical production costs.
