Middle East Petrochemical Industry Enters a New Phase as Dow Reviews Sadara Investment

Leave a message

The Middle East petrochemical industry is entering a new period of portfolio optimization as global chemical producers reassess large-scale investments and focus more closely on asset competitiveness.

Dow is considering options for its 35% interest in Sadara Chemical Company, its major Saudi Arabian joint venture with Saudi Aramco, according to recent reports. No final decision has been announced, and potential options could include a transaction involving Saudi Aramco or other investors.

Located in Jubail Industrial City, Sadara is one of the Middle East's largest integrated chemical complexes, with annual production capacity exceeding 3 million metric tons of chemicals and plastics.

The development is particularly important because the Middle East remains one of the world's most competitive petrochemical production regions, supported by large hydrocarbon resources and highly integrated refining and chemical operations.
